Q: What drove you to start book blogging in the first place?

Fantastic question. I don’t think I’ve really sat down and answered this one before, or if I have, it’s been a while and it was a brief response, so I’ll be a little more detailed for this.

Growing up, I was considered a bit of an oddball out of my friends BECAUSE of my love for reading and books, and unfortunately due to this, I never really had anyone to discuss them with. I love talking books, characters, plots…I love talking about my favorite authors and their upcoming releases and how they inspire my own writing…I love talking about books that disappointed me and having friendly debates. You get the idea. I don’t get this kind of satisfaction in real life with anyone around me (except most recently now that I’ve turned my BFF into a bit of a bookworm finally. Haha) and it’s always made me feel a bit lonely. I guess that’s the right way to put it.

Before last year when I started my blog, I kept this little online journal on a writing site I was a member of for some time (no longer there), and occasionally would write small book reviews there or tell people what I was reading or share in my excitement of upcoming releases, etc. It was then I’d realized that I was enjoying that. A friend recommended GR to me, and told me about the reading challenge there, I joined but rarely logged in for several months and didn’t really start my activity until after I started my blog. It was the reading challenge mostly that led me to start book blogging and the fact that I wanted a little place on the web where I could be myself and hopefully meet other like-minded people. I did absolutely no research into blogging before starting. I didn’t know a thing about memes at the time. Ha. I was just ready to get started on sharing my thoughts and talking books. I learned pretty quick though at least thanks to some warm welcomes and helpful friends. Now a year and a half later, I’m still going strong and I wouldn’t give it up. This is a wonderful community and I love it.

Happy reading and have a great weekend!

  5. Thanks for stopping by - new follower (GFC & Linky).

I originally started my blog with the intention of posting some photography and writing, but never quite seemed to do much of either. It was moving into book reviews finally got me past the procrastination hump. :)
