Q: BeefcakeandBabes Asks: I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What’s the most unique character name you’ve come across?
As a writer myself, I know all too well the desire of wanting that “perfect” or unique name for your character. You don’t want something just random ninety-percent of the time--it must have spunk and style, while staying with your character’s given personality, right? Not that I have anything against a normal name, either. I adore those, too! Most of the time, I like to tell people my characters pick their own names. Weird, right? :P
Anyway, I don’t want to just hand out my own character names here at the moment because I’m not quite ready to share them publicly yet. Nothing against my readers of course, but I like to keep them a bit private for personal reasons. There’ll be a release in the near future I believe but I’m not making an official announcement just yet.
Some of my favorite unique names come from some of my favorite reads though. Katniss (Hunger Games), Karou (Daughter of Smoke & Bone), Aria (Pretty Little Liars), Kerrick (Touch of Power), and Dorian (The Dark Swan series).
Oddly, I seem to like ‘K’ or K-sounding names (even if they start with a C instead). And I’m just now noticing that strange quirk, I guess you could call it. Haha.

I find it interesting that a lot of people are saying that Karou is quite unique for them. It's actually a popular name in Japan. Then again, I enjoy Japanese literature and music so I'm the oddball who sees the name as perfectly normal!
