Review: My Sweet Saga

Title: My Sweet Saga
Author: Brett Sills
Genre: Adult Contemporary

At nearly 30 years old, Brandon is barely able to make it through life, much less enjoy it. He is weeks away from what should be one of the happiest days of his life, his wedding day to his fiancée, Clarissa, but his attention is distracted when his estranged, erratic and oddly eccentric father suddenly reappears with a bizarre demand: to accompany him to Stockholm, Sweden, where they will meet a man who he claims will change their lives.

Desperate for even a brief escape from his reality, Brandon reluctantly goes with his father, ready for a disaster. But his life changes completely the moment his eyes meet the mysterious Swedish man's daughter, Saga. On a cobblestone street in the middle of Stockholm, Brandon reawakens to life, though struggles to navigate the messy love triangle with Saga and his fiancée, which includes multiple arrests, hospital stays, terrorist bombs, acts of heroism and foolishness, family secrets and even a bit of public nudity. --Goodreads

This was a fun adult contemporary that gave me a lot of laughs at times and some enjoyable, well-crafted and developed characters.
I particularly enjoyed the writing style throughout, despite that there was some informality to the writing, but it felt like often Brandon was sitting there with the reader telling his tale. The humor was spot on when needed and the story nicely developed. I honestly had a lot of laugh-out-loud moments. :)

Overall, I really found My Sweet Saga to be a great read. It's hard for me to get into a lot of contemporary often, but this was attention-grabbing from the first page and fun. I sped along right through it. I would recommend this if you're a reader who enjoys the genre, and to the adult crowd (a lot of strong language and mature themes throughout).

I was provided an e-copy for review. Thank you for the opportunity to read.

  2. Thanks for the comment, Kathryn! :)
I wish I could have been able to say more about it, but really there wasn't much more to be said other than that I really enjoyed it, the characters, the narration presentation, and the humor throughout. Just an easy sum-up right there. Haha. :) Hope you enjoy as well when you get around to reading!
