A breathtaking journey toward self-discovery and true love, from the author of If I Stay

When sheltered American good girl Allyson "LuLu" Healey first meets laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter at an underground performance of Twelfth Night in England, there’s an undeniable spark. After just one day together, that spark bursts into a flame, or so it seems to Allyson, until the following morning, when she wakes up after a whirlwind day in Paris to discover that Willem has left. Over the next year, Allyson embarks on a journey to come to terms with the narrow confines of her life, and through Shakespeare, travel, and a quest for her almost-true-love, to break free of those confines.

Just One Day is the first in a sweepingly romantic duet of novels. Willem’s story—Just One Year—is coming soon!

I had to take quite a bit of time to gather all of my thoughts together for this one. It was just that good…and that emotional.

Just One Day was one of those reads that the moment you start from the first line, you KNOW it’s going to be special. It’s like all the breath rushes out of you from the first sentence, and then you’re glued to the pages because you can’t stop reading--you won’t stop reading--until you find out what it is about the book that suddenly has you in its grasp. Then you meet the characters, see their world, share their moments.

This book took control of me. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. I found myself immersed into Allyson’s adventure in the beginning. The feelings that jumped from the pages were electric, and the emotions through the rest of the book were heart-wrenching.

Reading the synopsis above, you may think it’s going to be about some lovey-dovey, cheesy Shakespearean-themed romance. It’s not. This is more about tragic loss and need. The need to find oneself. Love lost and cherished. Adventure. Memories. It’s deep and thought-provoking. These characters and the messages throughout will grab at your heart. I still can’t properly form my thoughts as to how much I loved this book.

I’m looking forward to the companion, Just One Year, when I can revisit some of the characters-as well as Willem to get his story. Also, quite obviously, I need to definitely read more of Forman’s work.

  2. I'm looking forward to this one, I really liked If I Stay.

For a day, I'd love to go out to the Oregon coast and drive through the little beach towns. I started planning a vacation there for last fall but plans changed and we weren't able to go. I still want to stay in a little cottage just off the ocean in a small quirky beach town.

  3. I haven't read a romance in forever...

Cape Cod Cottages is an affordable, lovely little place about halfway down the Oregon coast. The aves crash into the windows when there's a big storm!

  6. Yay! I'm so glad you loved this. I totally expected the same thing you did, but it's so not. I've gotten into discussions with people about how I don't think this is a romance novel. But. Oh well. You loved it and I loved it, and that's the important thing here.

  9. If I could go anywhere in the world it would simply be New York. I know it isn't everybody's top choice but I've wanted to go for YEARS just can not get there though. I'd do anything. I want to see the bright lights, the buzz, everything.

  11. If I could go anywhere in the world for a day, I'd visit Athens or Rome. Both cities I've wanted to visit for years (there is something so charming about ancient cities), and I've never really been anywhere in Europe.

  12. Probably just to NYC, because it's one of my favorite cities in the world, and it's not far. I can't imagine flying 6+ hours somewhere just to turn around.

  14. I really like romance that's not only about the romance - it adds even MORE depth!
I totally know what you mean about books that YOU know you're going to love even before finishing the first chapter. Usually, I actually just want to give the book 5 stars on Goodreads even before finishing it, because it would just be leading the book on. Anyway, I would love to read JUST ONE DAY soon.
