Notorious Nora Sutherlin is famous for her delicious works of erotica, each one more popular with readers than the last. But her latest manuscript is different—more serious, more personal—and she's sure it'll be her breakout book...if it ever sees the light of day.

Zachary Easton holds Nora's fate in his well-manicured hands. The demanding British editor agrees to handle the book on one condition: he wants complete control. Nora must rewrite the entire novel to his exacting standards—in six weeks—or it's no deal.

Nora's grueling writing sessions with Zach are draining…and shockingly arousing. And a dangerous former lover has her wondering which is more torturous—staying away from him...or returning to his bed?

Nora thought she knew everything about being pushed to your limits. But in a world where passion is pain, nothing is ever that simple.

I think I’ve pretty much realized at this point that when it comes to anything erotica, I should stay away from these BDSM-type stories. They are not for me. I’ve never been interested in Fifty Shades of Grey (for many, many reasons), and I’m not interested in some of the other newer releases out on the market that seem to be following the trend.

The thing about The Siren is that I’ve really heard great things about this series. And I do love the occasional erotica read (big J.R. Ward fan) so I wanted to give this one a try and see what all the hype was about. I didn’t see it much to be honest. Reisz writes amazingly well, and crafts some great characters that you can find yourself enjoying. There is a story there and it’s not all about the sex and the strange and quirky. But I couldn’t find myself personally quite connecting with this book as a reader. I liked the general idea of a writer getting cozy with her editor, but there was a lot more going on than just that, and I soon discovered that maybe I just can’t connect with some of these books at all. I think my largest problem is that at times, it gets way too carried away. I mean, into the point of being beyond sexy BDSM and more along the lines of flat-out abuse. I can’t enjoy that or even consider that the slightest bit romantic.

Would I recommend it? Most likely. I’d recommend it to audiences who love this genre, love this type of erotica in particular. It’s well crafted and well written. The characters have distinct personalities and sometimes I sympathized with them. I also found Nora witty and her quips charming and laugh-out-loud funny at times. On a personal side note: I won’t be continuing with the series though.

If you’re looking for an entertaining and steamy read in this genre, The Siren could possibly be for you.
