Q: What writing device or trick most irritates you when reading a book? For example, if an author employs an omnipotent narrator that is sometimes considered bad form.

Insta-love for sure. Most recently, forced love triangles. Really…I can handle some love triangles IF they’re fitting to the characters, but most of them in recent books lately just feel forced just to keep up with the whole “Team” trend. Gets annoying.

Have a wonderful bookish weekend!

P.S. If you've noticed my minor lack of posting recently, it's because I've been so insanely busy with getting all of my edits done and working on my other manuscript. I'm trying to play catch-up in my blogging and commenting, but I am slacking a bit. So sorry! <3 <3

  1. I agree, I find insta-love and love triangles quite irritating. If love triangles are done well it's okay but there are only a handful of those I've come across.

  2. I mentioned love triangles too! I'm not a fan of insta-love either. Too cliche and boring! Old follower.

    Happy Friday!

  3. I agree. Instalove is the worst for me too. Also hate love triangles. But...both can be done well if in the hands of a really skilled author who can make it work and not seem like a lazy and cheap plot device. Great answer!

  4. Hi!
I can get into instalove and triangles if they're done right, but let's face it, how often does that happen. I much prefer a slow steady burn of luvin. Haha.
