An Irish heritage, Celtic myth, and deadly beauty

In eighth grade, Brianna did something so dreadful she was suspended and homeschooled. No one could explain what happened that night . . . except Brianna's Irish grandmother, who gave her a silver charm bracelet and told her to wear it until she turned seventeen. Ever since she slipped it on, Brianna has felt like she's invisible. People stare right past her as if she doesn't exist. And that includes Blake Williams, the one boy she can't resist.

But everything changes in one frozen, silver moment when Blake sees her--and recognizes what she's been hiding. Brianna is descended from Danu, the legendary Bandia of Celtic myth. Yet before she can fully understand who or what she is, Brianna accidentally binds her soul to Blake--whose tribe has spent the last thousand years hunting Danu's descendants to protect humanity.

What initially attracted me to Silver was the premise. Celtic mythology? Oh yes, please. Often when dealing with mythology as the story background in most novels nowadays, it’s Greek. So it was really refreshing to see a change of pace and something that’s not used so much. I adored that. I adored it even more being that I come from an Irish family and my ancestors are Irish. Haha. I love all things Celtic…heck, I even read a bunch of non-fiction books for fun on the mythology, legends, etc. :P

Anyways, I looooovveeddd this book. This was so much more than just the mythology. There was a lot of mystery and a forbidden romance that stole my heart. It has a different twist. I really loved the development of everything. Details and descriptions were so crafted and beautiful. This book just keeps you turning the pages as everything falls into place for the characters.

I liked Brianna. She was not your typical whiney MC that is seen after she finds out what she is. She genuinely doesn't know what to make of it. And she only wants to be normal. Even from the start of the book, things don't seem quite right for her in life, and the author immediately sets up the reader to sympathize with her.

One of the best things about reading this is that it will keep you guessing throughout the pages and leave you in suspense. I loved that. Some people like straight-forward reading or something that gives you all the answers by the end. This won't give you that. But I loved how the story went through like this. You don't know who to trust. It left me wanting more.

There's a lot of twists and turns, mystery and suspense, beauty and romance. Definitely don't want to miss this one. I can't wait to read more from Ms. Vance. :)

4.5 Stars!

    1. Well I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! I like books with mythology and stuff, but it really is nice to see something different for a change, besides Greek, ya know? :P I also failed to mention that it was a little more on the mature side than most YA, but I didn't have a problem with that. Anyways, I can't wait to see what you think! :)

    1. Oh yes, it was a nice change of pace. I love Greek and all too.. but it's nice to read something that's not normally used. Especially a mythology dear to my heart. :) Hope you enjoy if you ever get around to it. :)

  4. Yay! I'm glad this is good, I really want to read it!

I love stories that set things up but keep you guessing. I hate it when you know the reveal before the MC, or even if you have a [correct] idea of it. I love good surprises in books!
