Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted at The Broke and Bookish.
This week's topic:
Top Ten Books You'd Hand To Someone Who Says They Don't Like To Read
1. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
2. I Am The Messenger or The Book Thief by Markus Zusak-- either one really. Preferably The Book Thief. I think it makes more of an impact and would be more apt to really pull at someone who normally doesn't read. Zusak is a wonderful author.
3. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein
4. The Harry Potter series-- However, I do personally know people who do read and don't like this series (shocker, right?) so there are preferences and I understand that. Thankfully I got a few kids turned onto reading by waving this series at them, though. ;)
5. The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa
6. The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
7. Stardust by Neil Gaiman
8. Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor
9. Pretty Little Liars/The Lying Game by Sara Shepard-- These books would be great for someone who doesn't normally read and loves these shows. They're just as addicting. :)
10. The Sookie Stackhouse series (True Blood) by Charlaine Harris-- same as above, or even if you've never seen the show and just want to know about it. Action packed and steamy romance.
And that's my list!
In all honesty though, I get sad anytime I hear someone say, "I hate reading" or "I don't read."
What is this world coming to? Lol
Happy Reading!!
I chose The Hunger Games as well, but I went for The Lord of the Rings over The Hobbit! Also, everyone picked HP (It's just been so successful at encouraging kids to read!).
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Daughter of Smoke and Bone. It was uniquely creative for a YA book.
Great picks!
I've been seeing The Hunger Games on a lot of people's lists today! haha, it's definitely on mine.
ReplyDeleteHmm... I also considered the Vampire Academy series -- one of my favorites, I still need to read Bloodlines... I'm a bit behind on a lot of 2011 reads >_<
Here's my list: Top Ten Tuesday
Anyway, great list!

I'm seeing a lot of Tolkien, Harry Potter, and Hunger Games on these lists and it makes me happy that we all mostly agree on that. :)
ReplyDeleteMy TTT for the week
I freaking love this list - I've either read or want to read almost all of these books!
