Q: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?
I avoid Christian Nonfiction/Fiction mostly. I respect everyone’s beliefs, but I have my own and after a lifetime of religion being pushed at me--and going through personal issues with my mother my whole life, I just am not interested really for my own preferences.
I’m also not really a fan of memoirs. I do like autobiographies, especially if they’re on historical figures, but memoirs (especially “washed up celebrity” types) aren’t my thing.
Happy Friday!
I've enjoyed non-fiction a time or too but generally prefer fiction as well. Don't read religious works either because I refuse to be preached to.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
Stop by my HOP if you have a chance.
I once got a religious fiction from Netgalley entirely by accident and I almost got apoplexy trying to figure out what to do with it. :)

Here's Mine
You're missing a lot of really good books by avoiding memoirs. :)
ReplyDeleteI stay away from christan books for the most part also, which is kind of odd since I am a christian, but I'm not a huge fan of real world books and the christian YA books I've read have been so depressing. I prefer monsters.

Definitely agree about the religious books...no preaching for me! Historical autobiographies are fun sometimes, but celebrity memoirs always seem so whiny.

ReplyDeleteThe books which you avoid like the plague are an exact carbon copy of the list I would have made!
ReplyDeleteNew follower.. respect your beliefs.. love your background..
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm a new follower!!! I can't wait to read more on your blog!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read really any religious books at all, but I agree that someone shouldn't feel that someone is pushing their religion on you through a book :)

Hopping through, definitely agree with your answer! Especially books that are just so righteous or pushy with the beliefs the characters abide to.
