The Shakespeare Challenge #1

Want to know more about The Shakespeare Challenge? Just go have a read over at this post.

How do you feel about the movie(s) that have been done that are “inspired” by Shakespeare’s work ? Is this a step back from getting people to see the plays in live action on a stage?
I enjoy watching the movies, but I would really love to go to a theatre and see a real play. There’s not anything like that around my place, so I’m just stuck with movies and unusual plot twists from directors, etc. until I get to one. Although, I did like the above movie with Leonardo DiCaprio back in 1996. Modern, yet the same. Unique.

Romeo and Juliet.
Perhaps one of his most famous works. Love it? Hate it? Or are you just indifferent?
Not to sound too clichéd here, but Romeo and Juliet is actually one of my all time favorites out of the many I’ve read. Not because of the romance, but because of the characters and the tragedy.

"For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Juliet and her Romeo."

I have three favorites: Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Macbeth.

What is/are your favorite(s)?

  1. Yay for Shakespeare :) I really liked that movie version of Romeo and Juliet that you mentioned in your post and not just because I love Leonardo DiCaprio (although that is a plus lol)

Here's my post for today and my answers to the questions: http://thoughts-of-an-endless-dreamer.blogspot.com/2011/08/shakespeare-challenge-1.html
