Reading Goal:

I’ve now read eighty-four books, surpassing my goal twice (first at fifty, and again at eighty). Haha!

News:

Last week I was honored to be a guest poster for the author, Laura Sullivan (also known as Sullivan Lee), on her blog. The theme: Pet Words. Want to know what my “pet words” are? You can read the post HERE!

In other news, I would like to make an announcement to say that I hope to start up a discussion post every week. I would love to have more interaction with my followers as well as discussing varying topics of interest (ex: ebook prices, traditional vs. self-publishing, books into movies, etc.). If you’re interested, please check back often for an upcoming post. Also if you have any suggestions for discussion topics, don’t hesitate to throw it out there in the comments!

Also, my house hasn't burned down, so that's always great news! These wildfires in East Texas have just been really awful the last week. We need some rain! o.O

(I’ve been in a bit of a “reading rut” lately. I read, of course, but it seems a bit more slowly. I think it’s because my schedule has been a little hectic recently due to upcoming school starting for kids and preparations, etc. plus my working toward publication. Any of you other bloggers experience “reading ruts” before, though?)

Reading Goals/Challenges:

I've read 74 of 80 books for the (2nd time around on changing my goal) yearly reading challenge I've set for myself. As stated the week before last, I'm not changing the goal again. This time, I've made a different game out of it and decided to see how many books I go over by the end of the year. :P

Books bought recently:

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
The Morganville Vampires, Volume 2 (Books 3 & 4) by Rachel Caine
Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
Misguided Angel by Melissa de la Cruz

Events at The Bookaholic:

August 30th: Final deadline for the "Born At Midnight" giveaway.

Also, in case you've missed it, I have another giveaway as well, open to U.S. and Canada residents- ages 17 and over. Enter for a chance to win an autographed copy of Brightwing by Sullivan Lee! Ends August 20th!

P.S. Entries are a bit low standing in both contests, so what's the harm in entering? You could have a really great chance!

Other events: I've won two blog awards! The Liebster Blog award, nominated to me by Kristen @ Better Read Than Dead and Cassandra @ Book & Movie Dimension. I also won this beautiful "Best Books Blog Award" from Deirdra @ A Storybook World.

Thank you, everyone! :)

Reading Goals:

I pushed my yearly reading goal up. AGAIN. Haha. Now it’s at 80. So, that’s twice I’ve changed. First from 50 to 70, now from 70 to 80. I know I’ll go beyond 80, but this time I’m not going to change it. Instead, I will just see for fun how much I go beyond it by the end of the year… then I’ll use the final number to determine next year’s goal. ;) Currently I’m at 69 books and about to complete my 70th.

Events at The Bookaholic:

The C.C. Hunter “Born at Midnight” Giveaway is still going on! It’s open until August 30th so you have plenty of time to enter. :)
I have other events coming up soon, too, so keep an eye out!
Also, if you like Shakespeare have a look at THIS POST and see if you may be interested in The Shakespeare Challenge! It’s a weekly Tuesday Hop that could be fun.
